How to make this special beans delicacy
Ewa Agoyin is one of the many modified ways of eating and enjoying beans. Here's how you can make it.
Ewa Agoyin is a super sweet twist of the Nigerian beans.
I'm sure a good number of people will agree with me that beans could be a little boring, both in appearance and taste. Growing up as a little girl, beans was one of the foods I dreaded and would do anything to avoid eating it.
But now, having discovered that beans don't always have to be cooked in the conventional pattern, I mean, you can give your beans one of those incredible smiley emojis, that way you'd constantly be attracted to it.
Ewa Agoyin is one of the many ways you can turn things around and enjoy a lifetime of eating beans. Here's how you can make your Ewa Agoyin and its sauce.
Ingredients
1. White black eyed Beans
2. Salt (to taste)
For the sauce
1. Palm oil
2. Onion
3. Bell Pepper (tatashe)
4. Habanero pepper (ata rodo)
5. Tomatoes (make sure the habanero and bell pepper is more than the tomatoes)
6. Ground crayfish (optional)
7. Seasoning cubes
8. Salt to taste
Preparation
1. Pick the beans to separate debris from the beans. Wash and put it in a large cooking pot. Add enough water because you want to make sure the beans gets very soft when you're done cooking.
2. Add salt to taste when the beans is tender. Cook till it gets really soft.
3. When the beans is soft, use a wooden spoon to mash the beans till there are no whole beans in sight.
For the sauce
1. Ground the tomatoes, bell pepper and habanero pepper
2. Boil the grounded pepper so that the water evaporates and it becomes thick.
3. Heat up some palm oil in a saucepan over medium heat.
4. Add chopped onion and fry till it becomes slightly brown but not burnt.
5. Add the thick grounded pepper and stir
6. Add the crayfish, salt and seasoning cubes to taste. Stir well and allow to fry.
Serve and enjoy your Ewa Agoyin!
