Happy World Milk Day...

Annually, the World Milk Day is celebrated worldwide on the 1st of June. It is a day established by the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO), to recognise the essential importance of a diary product that serves the daily nutritional needs of people globally.
The milk industry is an important part of agriculture, given the increasing demand for dairy products daily.
Therefore, the overall objective of celebrating the day is to raise public awareness about the importance of milk and dairy products for everyone, as activities are usually aligned to galvanise attention to the workings of the industry.
Health wise, milk provides the essential needs of both young and old:
- Calcium: Which builds healthy bones and teeth and maintains bone mass.
- Protein: Serves as a source of energy; builds and repairs muscle tissue.
- Potassium: Helps maintain a healthy blood pressure.
- Phosphorus: Helps strengthen bones and generate energy.
- Vitamin D: Helps maintain bones.
- Vitamin B12: Maintains healthy red blood cells and nerve tissue.
- Vitamin A: Maintains the immune system; helps maintain normal vision and skin.
- Riboflavin (B2): Converts food into energy.
- Niacin: Metabolizes sugars and fatty acids
Milk packs quite a punch when it comes to nutrition—and you don’t have to consume much to reap the benefits. So celebrate the day with a glass of milk today.
